Asking For Your Loving Support
Our Dear Friend Myuri is taking Samadhi soon, and we ask for your loving support.
Please read her letter below.
Please read her letter below.
Dear Friends,
I met Swami Kaleshwar in 1997 at his BKN program in Malibu, California. Shortly thereafter I went to live in his ashram in Penukonda, South India. For the next 15 years I immersed myself in the study of the knowledge, from ancient palm leaf manuscripts, on the path to Divine Mother.
In 2006, Swami assigned me to oversee his Soul University’s curriculum, teaching schedules, and compiling the handouts on his teachings.
As transcriber of Swami’s talks, he instructed me to compile a compendium of all his healing techniques, in what became the Sai Shakti Healing Book. Thereafter, I was asked to compile and co-edit Swamiji’s 3-volume Paramashiva Yoga - the Shiva-Shakti path to Mother Divine.
GOT THE NOTICE – TIME TO GO
After Swami’s Mahasamadhi in 2012, I moved to the U.S. and continued teaching and preparing knowledge compilations for teachers of Sri Kaleshwar. That is, until 2 years ago when I was diagnosed with a progressive, motor neuron disorder that controls the muscle activity for breathing, speaking, chewing and swallowing. Prognosis is poor - no treatment and the life expectancy 2-4 years.
The first year, I completely lost the ability to speak and my vision is greatly impaired. But more life threatening is swallowing aspiration which eventually leads to death by aspiration pneumonia. And soon I’ll require feeding and respiration tubes - No thanks! I don’t want to live the remainder of my days in that condition.
NATURAL APPROACH TO DYING
In in the Indian tradition in former times, it was common when one got old, they would leave their family, go into the forest, live off the vegetation, and when it came time, they would start limiting their food intake until they ate only one leaf a day…then no leaf, and final - svaha!
Now, the West’s approach to end-of-life palliative treatment is geared toward institutionalized facilities. It promotes what they term ‘Comfort Care.’ Essentially it means to keep the patient alive at all costs through painful, medical procedures and sedation drugs, depriving one of their most intimate experience - a conscious rendering of ones’ life and death venture.
END OF LIFE THROUGH VSED
Once I fully grasped the fact that I don’t have much time in this earthly existence, I began exploring an alternative approach to end of life. I should emphasize right off, I’m not in favor of suicide by any means, even though now it is legal (at least in California) to administer a deadly cocktail of drugs if one is within 6 months of dying. It’s called MAID (medical aid in dying).
I found the online site, End-Of-Life-Choices-California and learned about VSED (Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking), a natural approach to death that is painless and legal. This spoke to me immediately. The more I learned about VSED, the more this made the most sense for my situation. I’m 77, have lived a blessed life in all aspects, and most of all - through my deep spiritual connection to Swami Kaleshwar.
And so, on October 21, 2024, I will take the next step. This is my personal declaration of why I want to go the VSED way. I have no hesitation, no fear, total faith and trust for the best condition for a positive - svaha!
FUNDRAISING GOAL
The process takes between one to three weeks depending on one’s overall health. Health insurance doesn’t cover any of the costs.
What’s required: renting a private residence, hiring two full-time, live-in nurse caregivers, and the burial. My goal is to raise $10,000.
By the grace of Swami and Baba,
Myuri Zonka
